I Gävleborg finns en investering som måste förverkligas snarast! och det är dubbelspår mellan Gävle - Sundsvall (eller högre upp) Vi har idag ett scenario där bottniabanan blir klar 2011 och när trafiken släpps på (både
persontrafiken o godstrafiken kommer att öka markant) så kommer vi att drabbas av en trafikinfarkt söder om Sundsvall, i höjd med Gnarp (i norra delen av vårt län) kommer tågen att klossa i varandra. Trafiken där är idag
begränsad till 70 km/tim.
Och belastningen har redan idag nått smärtgränsen. Vi har dessutom i nivå med Bergby strax norr om Gävle en liknande situation där trafiksystemet riskerar att haverera!
Hela invetseringen i bottniabanan och den kommande norrbottniabanan riskerar att bli till viss del bortkastad eftersom väldigt många av resorna är längre relationer med mål att angöra Stockholm eller Arlanda.
För er kännedom är restiden mellan Sundsvall - Stockholm idag 20 minuter längre än för ett par år sedan
Förvisso kommer regional trafik att kunna utvecklas i Norrland mellan de större orterna tack vare bottniabanan (det har vi redan åstadkommit i Gävleborg). Men om Norrland (med Gävleborg inräknat) ska ha en
rimlig chans att överleva på sikt så anser jag att man bör göra en omprioritering från de mindre banorna i södra delarna av Sverige och göra en ordentlig satsning på dubbelspår Stockholm - Sundsvall.
Det går dessutom att skippa Kilafors - Söderhamn om man bygger dubbelspår eftersom det spåret bara skulle avlasta ostkustbanan med godstrafik under förutsättning att det fortfarande ska vara ett enkelspår på ostkusten!
